Wire fraud is one of the most pressing issues today in real estate. Most often, criminals will send the home buyer an email under the guise of being from the title company; the criminal provides the home buyer with wiring instructions to “wire money to the title company”; however, those wiring instructions are to an account held and controlled by the criminal.
Harper Title employs CERTIFID to securely send buyers wiring instructions and to collect wiring instructions from remote sellers. CERTIFID is a national wire fraud prevention company.
Harper Title banks with the Bank of Pensacola
The Bank of Pensacola’s wire routing number is 063208823.
Our escrow account number will be provided to buyers via CERTIFID.
How to avoid wire fraud:
Note that most criminals attempt to perpetuate wire fraud through email or a phone call. Criminals trick unsuspecting buyers that they (the criminal) is contacting the buyer from the title company (or from Harper Title Company).
Buyers must be vigilant when sending their money for closing. Buyers should VERIFY the wire request before taking action.
If a buyer receives an email from what appears to be the title company, the buyer should call the title company directly before taking any action.
Do not call the phone number included in the email. Instead, call the number on this website, or Google Harper Title Company. Speak to someone regarding proper wiring instructions.
Ask Harper Title if such an email originated from Harper Title and ask Harper Title to confirm the account number and the name on the account to where you are wiring funds.
